The Camillus House South Dade Transitional Facility is a former hotel that was served by a drinking water well. Because it was not served by a municipal water supply, the State of Florida limited the number of residents that could occupy the facility. Thus, Camillus House constructed a water main extension to serve the facility which increased the number of residents that could occupy the facility.
Biscayne Engineering Company designed the water main extension and permitted it through the State of Florida. Since the extension was installed along US 1 which is a state owned right-of-way, Biscayne Engineering also prepared the maintenance of traffic plans and permitted the work through the Florida Department of Transportation.
